Grand piano piece by the Scottish composers is handed over to the world’s first woman in space at the ceremony at the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh

On 16 December 2014 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A. Pritsepov met award-winning Scottish composers and musicians Hilary Brooks and Karen MacIver of PianoPiano duo accompanied by acclaimed composer Eddie McGuire. He accepted a record and a signed copy of a score of a piece for two grand pianos dedicated to the first woman-cosmonaut, Russian Valentina Tereshkova, by Ms Brooks and Ms MacIver.

"Valentina Tereshkova has always been a heroine of mine," said Ms MacIver. "She set a trail for other women to follow and truly deserves her iconic status."

"In 1990, Tereshkova received an Honorary Doctorate from Edinburgh University. We're not the first Scots to pay tribute to this extraordinary woman!", mentioned Ms Brooks.
